The brief

The brief was to design an iOS app for booking and accessing doctor consultations in an innovative way, with a high-fidelity clickable prototype for one prioritised flow. Focusing on users in India, two moments kept coming up: not knowing which doctor to see, and losing hours at the clinic even with a booking.

My approach

Research, app store reviews and three personas pointed to one idea: describe how you feel, get the right doctor, don’t wait at the clinic. People speak or type their symptoms in English or Hindi and get a suggested specialist with a reason, never a diagnosis. A live visit card shows the doctor’s delay, your token and when to leave home, a ₹200 refundable booking fee replaces full prepayment, and warning signs route straight to emergency help on 112.

The result

Forty-plus high-fidelity screens in English and Hindi, a design system and a clickable prototype of the core flow, aiming for a booking in under a minute after describing symptoms. These are design targets rather than measured results; next come usability tests with five people, interviews to validate the personas, and the clinic side, where reception updates the live queue in one tap.

Inside the app

The core journey in 8 screens, from feeling unwell to walking into the clinic on time.

  1. Samay: Your visit, live on home

    Your visit, live on home

The leave-by time and your live token sit right on the home screen.

  2. Samay: Just say what’s wrong
    02

    Just say what’s wrong

Describe how you feel by voice, in Hindi, English or both.

  3. Samay: Check your symptoms
    03

    Check your symptoms

Samay confirms what it understood and asks about warning signs.

  4. Samay: Urgent care, not a booking
    04

    Urgent care, not a booking

Warning signs skip the queue and go straight to 112 and the nearest ER.

  5. Samay: The right doctor, and why
    05

    The right doctor, and why

Matches come with a reason, today’s real wait and the fee.

  6. Samay: Trust at a glance
    06

    Trust at a glance

Verified reviews, experience and the next free slots.

  7. Samay: Fair way to pay
    07

    Fair way to pay

In-clinic first, ₹200 refundable now and the rest at the clinic.

  8. Samay: Leave home on time
    08

    Leave home on time

Who’s being seen now, your token and directions to the clinic.
